Help for Seniors

Community Support Services are designed to help seniors and persons with disabilities remain independent in their own homes and fully participate in their community.

What are Community Home Support Services?

SECC’s Community Home Support Services are a collection of programs and services that help seniors and persons with disabilities remain independent in their own homes and fully participate in their community.

Meals on Wheels

Hot, nutritionally balanced meals are available Monday through Friday. They are delivered to your door by volunteers.

Transportation Services

Our program provides affordable door-to-door transportation including service to Windsor and across Essex County. Travel for appointments, socializing, errands, shopping, volunteering, or visiting friends and family.

Adult Day Program

This program is a supervised day service providing social, recreational, and personal support to clients and respite, information, and referral services for their caregivers.

Security Check and Friendly Visitation

Caring, trained volunteers provide telephone reassurance calls or in-home visits to determine individual well-being, promote social connectedness and report concerns for follow-up by SECC staff.

“We are so fortunate to have SECC’s transit to help with rides to medical appointments in Windsor. Meals on Wheels has been a godsend so she has delicious meals prepared for her. Also, the Day Away Program! She comes home and tells us the beautiful stories of all the things she’s done.”

About SECC

In 1973, a group of concerned citizens had a vision to create a community sponsored agency that would address the various needs of the people of South Essex. The vision and efforts of two individuals mobilized the communities of South Essex to create the South Essex Community Council. The leadership of Father G.H. Duchene and JoAnne Fillimore shaped the work of SECC as a collaborative community-based, multi-service agency.
