The SPARK After School Program launched in September 2015. It quickly expanded with 22 kids from Queen Elizabeth Public School as well as Mill Street Public School. The program, funded by the United Way and delivered by SECC, was designed to offer a safe, meaningful experience that is educational, providing homework help, as well as recreational. Additionally, kids are provided with a healthy snack upon arrival.
The children have become team players, more active, and artistically inclined, creating beautiful artwork. Children and parents have also participated and attended our monthly Community Dinners, where they have been invited to share in a meal, and attend an interesting workshop afterwards. The program has fostered new friendships and positive relationships, an improvement in behaviors and attitudes, and the freedom to express themselves. We hope to continue to grow and inspire.
