SPARK After School Program

What is SPARK?

The SPARK After School Program provides a safe and inviting place for children ages seven to twelve living in the Leamington area. It combines planned learning activities and recreational activities to help children learn, gain skills and be ready for the future. Each programming day will consist of a nutritional snack, homework help or structured learning activities and recreational activities such as parking lot hockey, soccer and indoor games. Children will be engaged through other activities such as cooking, crafts and science experiments. Activities will be specially designed for the unique needs of the children and focus on building their abilities, confidence and connection to their community.

The program also includes family supports such as community dinners and workshops/discussion groups for parents to give them knowledge of and access to other needed community supports and services. Workshops will be determined based on participants’ expressed interests and/or needs. Youth Workers on-site at the SPARK program can assist in connecting youth and adults to various community supports by providing information and referral services, and following up with individuals to ensure they received the support they requested.
