50 Faces of SECC – Razan

Razan started her journey with SECC in our Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program when she was just 18 months old. Her parents began attending English language classes at SECC after hearing about the program from family friends. While they were in class, Razan attended CNC and her brother attended the SPARK After-School program. Over the years, Razan has been involved with many other SECC programs and events including SPARK After-School program, Summer Camp, Ignite Academy, movie nights, community dinners, and much more.

Razan’s involvement at Ignite Academy began in September 2022 when she was referred to the program to get help with her English reading and writing skills. Razan has shown immense improvements in here reading and writing during her seven months in the program. Her confidence has also grown. Razan is a joy to have around. She can light up a room with her many talents and her sense of humor. Whether she is showing off her gymnastic skills, singing her new favorite song, or telling a new joke, she does it all with a smile on her face and an uplifting, positive attitude. She is kind to staff and students and has set a great example for her peers.

Razan is eager to take on new challenges as she transitions into her next school year. Her current progress in Ignite Academy is obvious to the staff who have the joy of working with Razan day-to-day. Her curiosity, graciousness and mature outlook will greatly benefit her in years to come. We can’t wait to see what Razan will accomplish in the years ahead.
