South Essex Community Council

Volunteer CoordinationVolunteer Coordination

Provides persons interested in volunteering at South Essex Community Council with a streamlined, one-stop-shop approach to volunteer participation to benefit themselves and others in the community.

Volunteers are the backbone of many of the programs and services offered by South Essex Community Council. Without them we could not offer the breadth and variety of programs to the residents of southern Essex County that we do.

Volunteers for South Essex Community Council programs come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a variety of gifts and experience to our clients.  They can also learn new skills and gain experiences that will enhance their skill sets or help them in their goal to help others in the community who truly appreciate their assistance.

South Essex Community Council can offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to potential volunteers and provides orientation, training and on-going support during their time with our agency.

Screening Policy

South Essex Community Council takes the safety of its clients very seriously and practices good risk management. As a result, all volunteers are subject to screening procedures based on the level of risk associated with the position to which they apply. Screening measures include:
  • Completion of a volunteer application
  • Interview and reference checks
  • Police records check
  • On-the-job check-ins

Cost

Generally, volunteers who are required to provide a police records check are responsible to cover the cost of this check themselves. However, we will provide a letter to give to the local police department which entitles you to a volunteer discount.
