Literacy and Basic SkillsLiteracy and Basic Skills

Provides adults with literacy and numerical tutoring in one-on-one or group settings to enhance their potential.

Eligibility

Individuals must be 19 years of age or older.

What does the service include?

Individualized programming with a tutor, weekly sessions, day or evening. Small groups of 3-10 persons also meet for weekly sessions, days or evenings. Childcare is provided in some cases.

Cost

There is no fee to participate.

Assessment Services

Assessments are completed with all individuals who register with the Adult Literacy Program. The purpose of an assessment is to determine the individuals literacy level, as well as employment and/or personal learning goals. A Training Plan is developed for each individual to reflect their own needs and goals.

One-on-One Tutoring

One-on-one tutoring is available to those individuals whose schedules and/or needs cannot be accommodated within the group setting. An appointment is set up to assess the abilities of the individual and a training plan is designed to meet individual needs.

Workforce Education Program

Weekly workshops are provided for those interested in improving their employability. These workshops are offered in conjunction with the Job Connect Program.
