Immigrant Parent & Child TrainingImmigrant Parent & Child Training

Provides Low-German speaking Immigrant women and their preschool children with group sessions on life skills, parenting, nutrition and English language instruction to assist with integration into the community.

Eligibility

Any newcomer parent with pre-school aged children is eligible for the ImPACT Program.  An assessment is completed to determine the needs of the individual and to place the individual in the appropriate class.  A training plan is developed to monitor progress and meet the learning needs of each individual.


What does the service include?

The program offers settlement services, referrals to community and social services, life skills training and English Language instruction.

Group Instruction

Group workshops are offered on an ongoing basis.  Instruction covers a variety of topics including:

    * Basic reading and writing skills
    * Numeracy
    * Writing letters and notes
    * Making lists
    * Reading directions/instructions
    * General life skills.
