Citizenship
Classes
Provides immigrants who have limited English Language skills with
assistance in preparing for their Canadian Citizenship examination in
order to become Canadian Citizens.
Eligibility
An assessment is completed to determine the needs of the individual.
What does it include?
Two Citizenship Classes
per week are offered in 8 week sessions throughout the year. Assistance
is provided to learn the required material and vocabulary. Sessions are
offered on an as-needed basis.
A minimum of 10 participants is required to run classes. Also, language
instruction and form filling are offered. Participants who complete
Citizenship Classes may elect to continue with formal literacy
instruction.
Cost
There is a fee of $50.00 for materials and supplies.
One-on-One Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring may be available to those individuals whose
schedule and/or needs cannot be accommodated within the group setting.
An appointment is set up to assess the abilities of the individual and
a training plan is designed to meet individual needs.
