Adult Day Program Adult Day Program

 Provides Seniors, the frail elderly, adults with physical disabilities and persons with early stage Alzheimer's disease or  dementia with a stimulating supervised social and recreational day program in addition to providing respite and  referral services for their caregivers.

ADP provides supervised individual programming in a group setting for adults to assist them to achieve and maintain their maximum level of functioning to prevent premature and inappropriate institutionalization and to provide respite and information for caregivers.

Activities include crafts, social outings, light exercise and recreational activities, songs, movies, review of current events, reminiscence time, games and celebration of special occasions.  A hot, nutritious meal is provided daily at noon.  Transportation to the program for those who are unable to supply their own is co-ordinated with Erie Shore Community Transit.

Eligibility

ADP services are available to persons who are residents of Leamington, Kingsville or Wheatley and are:
  • A senior; or
  • An adult with early-stage Alzheimer's disease or other dementia; or
  • An Adult age 55+ with a physical disability; or
  • The caregiver of a person matching the eligibility criteria above who requires respite and are looking for placement for their loved one into an adult day service program.

Cost

The current cost to attend is $15.00 per day attended. Please call (519) 326-0499 for current rates.  The cost of a lunch time meal and transportation via Erie Shore Community Transit are also covered in the attendance fee.

Hours of Operation

Programming is available Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Location

ADP is located in the Auditorium Wing at the Sun Parlor Home for Seniors, 175 Talbot Street East in Leamington.

Conditions of Attendance

Acceptance into the ADP is based on the following factors:
  • Person served is non-aggressive;
  • Person served is not prone to wandering;
  • Person served is able to feed and toilet him/herself; and
  • Person served is able to administer their own medications if required during attendance.

Community Care Access Centre

ADP operates in partnership with the Windsor-Essex CCAC to provide coordinated community support services. The ADP program leader will assist persons wishing to attend with arranging an in-home assessment with the CCAC.
